Shades of Blue

Summer started off teal and murky,

like the water that makes up a lake.

Then, pretty boy touched my hand and

Tiffany blue sprouted through my body

and up to my smile.

My tongue looked like the ugliest smurf.

My teeth, like their white clothes.

As summer went on, he left - gone.

No more airhead sweet talks in my robins egg-bed.

No more walks under a sky blue awning.

I bet he’s kissing someone new and

teaching her what sky blue is.

I don’t know. I blue it.
