Poetry by Siddhartha P. Nigam

Space Cake

Weightless, floating away in uninterrupted time

Living life in moments as they come my way

Travelling in space and counting the fallen bodies

Meteors and comets just shooting away

Trying to travel in a straight line

But, the showers just don’t stop

They leave me stranded and off course

Forcing me to take a hit from my junkshop

A rattled voice and piercing breaths fill my neck

While obscurity takes control over my brain

Darkness is this only word for this frigid vacuum

Making me unaware of my loss and what I stand to gain

But I keep floating away endlessly

The constant ticking of time is my only solace

There is no attraction or repulsion of any sort

Just time and space which are innately lawless

Unbound and without strings I make my way

Like I’m galloping in the old days of Rome

Tossing everything to reach the footsteps of your shrine

To make the same prayer again, please come home.

A motorhead and a voracious reader, Siddhartha (Sid) is perpetually trying to find a balance between engineering and creative writing.  All of his heroes have killed themselves and that's why he believes he'll also lose his creativity if he loses his intoxicating sadness. But, that doesn't stop him from having a good time. Whenever it's bad he always returns back to the Shire and has fun with his Hobbit friends.
