Little White Flowers In My Backyard on October 1st

They’re probably weeds—

most of my backyard is made up of weeds—

but they’re lovely nonetheless.

It’s St. Therese of Lisieux’s feast day

and I’m having a bad brain day

and I can’t help but feel that the flowers

are a gift from her,

a sign that it’s okay to grow

even if you are unwanted.

Beautiful, even.
