Tensile strength of a heart

four chambers in sync

beating - despite

scars chiseled

casualty of loves war

stitches dehisced

tissue splayed

by months

of whispered cuts

words sharp

carve a pounding

cardiac mass

beating – despite

another ending

wrenching

weeping bloody tears

wrung from a sweater

left behind.

The only muscle

capable of sound

palpitations soothing

honey bass

with treble

driving bones to move

beating – despite
