Poem by Rickey Rivers Jr

The Rain

You spoke so softly.

I couldn't hear you over the rain.

What did you say?

I was focused on the rain.

It sounded so beautiful dripping on the Earth.

What did you say?

I couldn't make it out.

The rain has my heart.

The rain has my head.

I might fall in love with the rain instead.
