Poem by Paul Robert Mullen

Updated: Jul 13, 2019

time

don’t ever forget about the ones

who crawl into the gaps

waiting for something like a storm

to drive them out

the ones that surrender

when the bullies take their lunch money

the ones whose sadness

paints their pictures with something

less than colour

don’t ever walk the streets

presuming everyone has somewhere to go

like you

or that the ever decreasing minutes

are filled with anything

more than nothing

or that time

that little bastard with plastic fingers

holds anything but endings

for those desperate for something new
