Poem by Lannie Stabile

Papa Bear

Last month, you spent

$400 on the shirtless man

in your living room

You bought a steel box

as big as a brown bear

And said it was for Father’s Day

You even asked for contributions

Whatever you can spare

Don’t feel obligated

My obligation died

when his heart gave out

Fathers are like nipples:

we all have them

But some are hairy,

some are useless,

and some sit bare

in front of the NASCAR races
