Poem by Aspen Duscha

Writer's picture: Marías at SampaguitasMarías at Sampaguitas

Garden gone.

My garden wilted in the rain

Only a yellow carnation remains

Its petals are as yellow as a lemon.

In the mud red carnations sink,

Cherries in chocolate

Devoured by the storm.

Upon the ground a forest of stems lays

A silent sea of peridot

Lost leaves litter the land,

Shed like warm tears

Entombed in the mire.

Aspen Duscha is a coffee-loving poet who in addition to gathering books loves to gather words and discover the world around them.
