Silhouette
Long distance is a string of two cans—
poorly constructed and easily broken by
one,
two,
or three bad miscommunications.
Long distance is a balloon with a message attached. Except
it only gets caught in a tree outside your home.
Long distance is a text that you send because you miss them—
only to get into a serious disagreement that
hurts you even more.
Long distance is the ultimate test of trust—
you know he’s with his coworkers, but
is the smile on their face questionable?
Long distance is finally saying “I’ve had enough!”
And all that’s left is a silhouette of your last kiss at the train station.
