Poem by April Frances Federico

Narcissism

“I love you,” I love owning you.

“Sorry,” But I’m not really sorry.

I will never change I won’t change

The way I think about you, My beak is too much of a brightly colored pink

For your talons are too sexy a sharpness For you to hurt my ego.

And you hold me down like no other Though I have the better ability to fly

I will never treat you like the prey Though I am secretly the predator,

And I don’t know it, nor do I care You are too dreary a human being,

your forehead is too big for your skull But it’s not all about you and how you feel.

It’s about me, Me, me, me

This is the survival of the fittest, The bitchiest, the richest.

Honey, I’ll keep it streamlined, After I’m through with you,

I’m still more suitable for courtship. I can have another girl like that!

You females are drab and jealous. You can never live without me.
