Poem by Juliette Sebock

Retrograde Renaissance

In the years that I've been alive,

springtime has been eclipsed

by Pluto in retrograde.

I didn't learn this until 24 years in,

but those years all sort of clicked

when I did:

the worst moments of my life

have happened in springtime.

I've always found it funny,

because spring is meant to be

a sort of renaissance,

rebirth,

renewal,

revitalising all

it comes into contact with.

But instead I've been met

with redirection,

recalls,

reversals of fortune

forcing me to relive

the moments that feel like

receding deep below ground

is the only way to

rewrite the story

when the autumn winds finally

reverberate

and return me

to my normal state.

Pluto gets back on course then,

and my worst times

become best again.
