The submissions window for the issue Mahal: Who We Are, What It Cost Us, and How We Love is open until October 31, 2020.
Issue submissions are open to all who have Filipino/a/x history and heritage. This is a love letter and sign of solidarity to all Filipino/a/xs across the diaspora.
Accepted work will be published digitally in our second PDF issue. This will not be distributed as a physical copy. This is exclusively open to Filipino/a/xs at this time.
Please only submit original work, unpublished elsewhere. Simultaneous submissions are accepted; however, please let us know if your piece is accepted elsewhere. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay contributors at this time.

We do not condone plagiarism. If the work is an “after” or response piece, please make it clear in the body of the email.

If you are interested in sending multiple reviews, please withhold from submitting the second essay/review until after you’ve received a response regarding the first review. Please do not let word count exceed 1,500 words. Please submit the essay/review as a Word .doc or Google .doc with the name of the review as the title of the .doc. Please include a short, third-person bio and any social media handles you wish to provide. (Reviews may be on the following: novel, poetry, chapbook, poem, short story, song, instrumental, band, singer/songwriter, movie, show, episode, etc. We are open to the possibilities.)
Please send no more than three works at one time. Please include a warning in the body of the email if there is sensitive material in your photography.
